Time is a construct to enable us to understand the information reaching our brainsInformation reaching our brains tells us that our environment is changing. As our environment changes we see that there are differences to what it was previously... The rate of change of those changes is how we measure time.
If we imagine our environment to be made up of particles then when a new particle strikes our consciousness we find that it tells us that something has changed so this gives us a sense of time.
If the environment is waves then we can detect a change in the environment at any time and it is when we measure (observe) the environment that actual changes are identified.
We are familiar with a residual "background" rate of changes and it is against this which we measure the development of our surroundings.
The more changes that we are aware of, the slower time will appear.
